A registered dietitian nutritionist for 39 years, Janis uses her knowledge of nutrition and health promotion to teach, counsel and consult. She also volunteers for food as medicine non-profits, such as Food & Friends in Washington DC and Eat Karma.
Janis’s publications include articles and blogs on popular sites such as National Geographic and Forbes Health. She’s also authored or co-authored six nutrition/health books (including four that hit the New York Times bestseller list).
As a wellness program developer, she researched and wrote many of the 56 sessions for “Real Appeal”—United Health Care’s year-long weight loss/wellness program. Over one million people have participated in this program.
Her part-time gig is teaching nutrition to undergrads at Georgetown University in Washington DC. Along with basic nutrition science, her class explores social and economic issues, including food insecurity, the social determinants of health, and the role food companies play in the obesity epidemic.
Raised in Greece, Lebanon and Italy, Janis returned to the U.S. to earn a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in Washington DC., where she now lives. She followed that with a Master of Science in Nutrition from the University of Maryland, College Park. As part of her training to become a registered dietitian, Janis evaluated and treated children with developmental delays as part of a multi-disciplinary team at Georgetown University Hospital.
Mr. Leonard has more than twenty-five years of experience in enterprise Technology, CRM/ERP/Cybersecurity, Risk Management systems development in Manufacturing, Healthcare, Federal Government, Financial Services, High Tech, Hospitality, Disaster Services and Telecommunications industries. Recognized as a strategic thought leader, Cloud - Security Subject Matter Expert certified in Microsoft Azure, and Amazon Web Services, and Certified Information Systems Security Professional. He is currently a Principal Security Cloud Solution Architect with Microsoft.

Mr. Leonard’s academic background includes a Bachelors in Business Administration from Pace University, and Masters in Business Administration in Cybersecurity from The George Washington University, including residencies in Istanbul Turkey and Talin Estonia.
Mr. Leonard’s equity initiatives include leading Blacks At Microsoft as Global Professional Development Lead across multiple business units, geographies, and 10,000 members.
